2019 – With the promise of a new year, we have another chance to solve life’s problems!

HELLO!

I love new beginnings. It is one reason I have enjoyed working in periodical publishing over the years. The publishing business is a never-ending series of fresh, new starts each paired with a definite ending date, delivering a sense of accomplishment, which is quickly followed with the anticipation of what’s next. With each issue we are given a new chance to make the best product possible, working with-in our resources and timetable.

When Tina Brown was tapped to start a new online newspaper, she named it “The Daily Beast” because it devours everything you feed it, and needs the same amount the next day. Publishers often don’t even publish a January issue for many reasons, not the least of which is a production schedule that is upside down during the Thanksgiving through New Year’s holiday, shopping, gathering together, traveling and partying season. In many ways, the January/February issue of ARTS & FOOD® is the most difficult to produce during the year, because of that lack of quality work-time during production. In this issue, we have used some of our best archived, but still relevant articles and asked for a favor or two here and there. Thus we are proud to start 2019 with another excellent product.

With this issue, we are introducing a new section to our magazine: THE ARTS & FOOD® GALLERY. We will find and curate talented artists across the USA and abroad, to display their work in online Solo Exhibitions. Just like a white box physical gallery space, each artist can present a decent selection of their best work and if our readers are so moved they are invited to contact the artist directly to make a purchase. THE ARTS & FOOD® GALLERY will be limited to 6 curated artists, for now, so it’s an exclusive opportunity for wide exposure and the exhibition will stay up for the two months of that issue. Then they will be taken down and replaced with another crop of excellent artists, giving them the opportunity for focused national and international exposure. Please check out these artists and their art – if you like their work, contact them directly to see what is available for sale and their terms. – Please only contact the artist directly! We will not be acting as the artist’s agent, not taking orders or commissions on their sales, so all of their emails have been provided at the end of each gallery section.

We are excited to give you glimpses into some current and interesting museum exhibitions, plus some great insider art history knowledge, because “ART is SMART”™ and culture is the signature of every society!

Hope you enjoy this January February 2019 issue of ARTS&FOOD®!

Until later,

Jack Atkinson
