A Savory Onion Pie for Dinner

Savory Onion Pie

3 Tbsp. Butter

2 cups sliced onions

1/2 cup grated Swiss cheese

4 Eggs

2 cups half-and-half cream

1 tsp. nutmeg

1/2 tsp. Salt

9-inch unbaked pie shell

Preheat oven to 400º.

Sauté onions in butter, stirring until they are limp.

Sprinkle onions in pie shell.

Cover with grated cheese,.

Beat eggs & stir in cream and seasonings

Strain into the pie shell.

Bake on lowest rack of oven for 15 minutes.

Reduce oven temperature to 325º.

Bake for another 30 minutes,

or until a knife inserted 1 inch from the edge comes out clean.

Should look like custard with a slightly browned top.

Serves 6
