Smoke Shack / Eating BBQ is a Requirement in Texas!

Smoke Shack BBQ – YUM!

Owner and Pit Master Chris Conger started Smoke Shack in 2000 as the 3rd food truck owner in San Antonio. Now all of his smoked meat is cooked in a massive outdoor smoky BBQ pit at his complex of restaurant, bar, and meat market. The Smoke Shack’s house-made pork and beef sausage hot links are wonderful, but Smoke Shack is best known for its juicy beef brisket.

For the brisket Conger starts with his special-order marbled meat, then trims each piece to his liking, finally he applies generous salt & pepper before putting on his secret dry rub. Time to let the rug absorb for 6 to 8 hours, before he throws the brisket on his rotating grill. When done, Smoke Shack serves-up some of the tastiest, juiciest BBQ beef on this planet!

Don’t forget, all of their options are great: the pulled pork, ribs, chicken, turkey, hot links, beef and also their sides: mac-n-cheese, greens, coleslaw, creamed corn, okra, pickles, french fries, and mashed potatoes. Ask for their Grilled Cheese with Brisket, it’s a favorite with the regulars.

From Downtown San Antonio, go 2.5 miles north on Broadway to 3714 Broadway Street. – Reviews average 4.5 stars out of 5. Here is an actual review: “The staff was very friendly, even during the lunch rush. I’ve had the brisket, ask for moist brisket, Best ribs I’ve ever tasted, turkey sandwich with mac and cheese (best ever mac and cheese), collard greens, green beans. Awesomeness! The seasoned fries were very good, cut fresh – the mac and cheese was truly amazing, it has bits of sausage, and brisket in it and the pasta was cooked perfectly, not as if it had been in a pot all day, also had just the right amount of real cheese.” It sounds like that reviewer really loved the mac and cheese!
