The Mad Dogs Pub On the Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX
The Mad Dogs Pub is one of the dozens of restaurants to choose from along the very busy riverwalk sidewalk. At first glance, it seems so themed, that it would fit right into Disney World, very British with a red phone booth and Union Jacks everywhere. The waitresses are in short kilts, again a 70’s throwback, but the whole Riverwalk, with barges tours, has a theme park feeling, also.
I ordered the East Indies Coconut Curry Shrimp Salad with pan-fried coconut shrimp, oranges, fresh radish slices, grapes, and raisins. All coated in a unique house-made curry dressing. Also, some Scotch Eggs and a “cricket bat” selection of beers on tap.
My overall experience at Mad Dogs was quite good and I would say it was FUN! Isn’t that what it should all be about when you are on vacation in San Antonio?
Just walking around the restaurant was a pleasure, the walls are jammed packed with miscellaneous British “stuff” like an Anglophile Horder left his collection to the pub – symbolic English paraphernalia on the ceilings, the floors, the walls, etc.
