Citrus Fruit Cup with Chile Spices – A San Antonio Vegan Delight

I bought this Fruit Cup while roaming through the Mexican Mercado in San Antonio and was truly impressed.

Spicy Mexican Citrus Fruit Cup

What a wonderful healthy treat I discovered in San Antonio. I am certain this refreshment has been around for ages in the Latino community, but this was my first experience eating this Latino treat.

Recipe:

• Make over-full cups of chilled fruit (watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon cut into pinky-finger length slivers or chunks / as shown, plus whole or half grapes and “thin-ish” medallions of cucumber). Strawberries, other berries, and kiwi could also work.

• Sprinkle a good amount of Trechas Chile Powder for Fruits and Vegetables*, a dry condiment, over the fruit. –

• Squeeze the juice from one fresh lime on top of each serving, cup or bowl, of fruit.

My experience was, the watermelon absorbed the citrus and spice the best, so I have been making this with my family, using only the watermelon.

• I bought this bottle of Trechas Chile Powder at the Mercado, but since that time, I have seen the same type of product, but with another brand name, at our local Kroger affiliate grocery store. You may want to start there to find this Chile Powder.
