Families Are Forever (a new song)

The latest song from Jack Atkinson & The Studio Gang is about families and how deep our histories go back. This is true, even for those who don’t know who their parents were. We seldom think about all the genes that make up our physical minds and bodies, and the souls that contributed to our spirit. Many generations of relatives came before us, then they passed the baton on to us … as we will pass it on to our children. Bloodlines do end, but through siblings and cousins (first, second, and once removed), those genetics keep moving on.

Families Are Forever

Lyrics by Jack Atkinson

[Verse 1] Life is short, like a swirling breeze,
We all have parents and family trees,
But in life’s rush, sometimes we forget,
Those family roots, we can’t neglect.
Grandma’s voice can be both soft and loud,
Her stories make us feel so proud,
Long days with our “Greats”, tales in the air,
Stories are enhanced. I do declare!

[Chorus] Hold on tight, to loved ones who care,
Their laughter is fading, but they’ll always be there,
Life is a scrapbook, and our love remains strong,
In our soul they reside, it’s where they belong.
Generations always set like the sun,
The bond we share, can never be undone,
Families are forever; they worked so we can win,
They’ve passed the baton; where our lives begin.

[Verse 2] Faded Pictures tell stories–times long past,
Capturing moments that still last,
Great-aunts, smiling through faces so old,
With lines like a novel, whispering dramas untold.
Weathering storms and battling through fears,
The days of their lives filled with grit, laughter, and tears,
Imagine their struggles, never hearing a word they spoke,
Their blood is in our veins; we ARE those folk.

[Chorus] Hold on tight, to loved ones who care,
Their laughter is fading, but they’ll always be there,
Life is a scrapbook, and our love remains strong,
In our soul they reside, it’s where they belong.
Generations always set like the sun,
The bond we share can never be undone,
Families are forever; they worked so we can win,
They’ve passed the baton; where our lives begin.

[Bridge] We wonder what they thought, what they would dream,
And the hard-fought victories they did glean,
The times have changed, but our relations remain,
This history of heartbeats, joys, and pain.
With every passing day, new stories we weave,
A tapestry of life, we will make, before we leave,
We carry their wisdom, their genes, their eyes,
But the legacy of love passed down, that never dies.

[Outro] Here’s to our roots, relations we’ll never meet,
Their genes are in our bodies, in every heartbeat,
Life is short — but in snapshot memories we find,
Families are forever intertwined.
