The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC has the most complete collection of any encyclopedic art museum in the United States. Their collection is so vast that only a fraction of it is on display at any one time. That is why it’s always exciting to return to the Met in NYC over and over again because what is on view changes constantly, within the various collection departments, and the promoted major “blockbuster” exhibitions always going on and staying up for months at a time.
Below are the current and upcoming art exhibitions at the met for this calendar year 2023. Of course, the permanent collection (which is amazing and fascinating) is always available to peruse.
