How to Identify and Leverage Your Core Strengths

Unlocking Your Genius:

As individuals, we all have unique strengths that we can leverage in our personal and professional lives. But how can we identify these strengths and use them to achieve the best possible results?

Step 1: Identify Your Passions

Your passions are a good indicator of your strengths. Ask yourself what you would do for free, simply because you love it. What gets you most excited? What do you care about the most? These are the things that will help you discover your deepest, most profound strengths.

Step 2: Ask Others for Input

Others see things in us that we can’t see ourselves. Ask people what you’re best at, what unique skills and talents you have, and what sets you apart from others. Their input will help you get a clear and full picture of yourself.

Step 3: Evaluate Requests You Regularly Receive

What requests do you receive from others? These are indicators of your strength. What sort of advice do people ask you for again and again?

Step 4: Determine Which Qualities You Most Admire in Yourself

What admirable qualities do you possess? What are you most proud of in yourself? For what key qualities define who you are? These are the questions you should ask yourself to determine your strengths.

Step 5: Find Your Flow

Flow states occur when you are so immersed in a particular task or project that you lose all sense of time. When do you find yourself in flow? The state of flow happens when we use our strengths. Identify the times when you enter flow state and look closely at those, then determine which strengths you were using during those times.

Step 6: Identify Your Role Models

Who are your greatest role models in life? Who do you admire most and why? Who do you aspire to be like? If a strength in someone else resonates with you, it’s an indication that you also possess that strength.

Step 7: Highlight Your Successes

Consistent success at any particular activity is often an indicator of your strengths. Examine those areas closely to determine why you’re having that success. Success leaves clues with your work and when others succeed.

Step 8: Evaluate Your Upbringing

Think back to your youth. What activities were you naturally drawn to? Did any subjects come to you naturally? What do you think enabled you to handle those subjects so easily?

By following these steps, you can unlock your genius and leverage your core strengths to achieve success in your personal and professional life.
