LARRY RICKARDS REMEMBERED – Creator of Fantasy Sculptures!

(Editors Note: As we were assembling this Winter Issue 2021 of ARTS&FOOD® we were informed Larry Rickards passed away in Dec. 2020.)

Larry Rickards, a Colorado native, has been creating unique art objects ranging from Jewelry, ornaments, ornamental utensils to outdoor sculptures. Committed to bringing a sense of happiness and pleasure to the viewer, his pieces are often amusing as well as beautiful. His work was also selected to be on a poster for Design Within Reach. Consistently recognized for an original and aesthetic combination of found objects, stones, and jewels with silver and gold metals.

His work has been sought out by art and jewelry collectors through­out the country and has been displayed in venues ranging from high-end craft boutiques in Phoenix, The Steel City: International Contemporary Art in Metal Show in Colorado, First National Bank Corporation Art Show in Denver, Shodoni Gallery in Santa Fe, to the National Historical Society in Washington D.C. The Neiman Marcus store has selected and sold his miniature Christmas Tree Collection in 9 of their metropolitan stores.

Larry received both his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Fine Arts from the University of Denver and he retired as Art Director for U.S. West where he was responsible for the design of the corporate advertising, brochures, displays, annual reports, posters, books, and magazines, as well as selecting The Corporate Art Collection. His layouts and designs have received gold and silver medals from Art Directors Clubs in New York City, Los Angeles, and Denver. He was president of The Art Director’s Club, honored by the National Society of Illustrators, and featured in Communication Arts Magazine for excellence in magazine design and illustration.
